An adult who provides or intends to provide care as voluntary work.
A volunteer would be categorised as a care worker rather than a carer (see Care Act, S.10), and is likely to have completed an enhanced DBS check (see TLAP definition of Barred list).
The TLAP definition of Voluntary sector notes that "The people who work for voluntary organisations are not necessarily volunteers - many will be paid for the work they do."
